Bible Study- Starting
September 19th
The Bible is a weapon with which Christians arm themselves to
live daily in Christ. Every Orthodox Christian should at the
very least be reading the Bible on a daily basis and reflecting
on its meaning in our lives.
Bible Study is every Tuesday at 10:00 AM. The
study draws from Patristic commentaries and the liturgical tradition
of the Church. Each study involves life application of biblical
principles for edification and growth in the spiritual life.
Outlines of the studies are available at www.assumptionaz.org/Bible.htm

Adult Education - Inquirers, Catechumens and Adults who want
to deepen their faith
Underway in September, we will be exploring the Articles of
Faith as exoressed in the Nicene Creed and how they inform all
aspects of our life - in the Church and in the world. Each topic
will be discussed from the point of view that we can neither
settle for an eclectic understanding of Christianity nor a shallow
adherence to Orthodox dogma. The goal of the course is to come
to personally know the five central themes of the Creed:
1. God the Father who created the world through the Son
2. Divinity of the Son, the Word, who was Incarnate for our
salvation
3. Divinity of Holy Spirit – God is One in three persons
4. Church and sacraments, which starts with Baptism
5. Resurrection of the dead and future life
From there the class will examine catechetical works such as
'The Living God', 'The Faith of the Saints', and others; finding
themes that enlighten our understanding of how everything in
life begins with Faith, a Faith that leads to the personal experience
of God through salvation.
Class Schedule: Sundays, following Divine Liturgy and the Agape
